Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Ontario seeks a Registered Practical Nurse for a temporary part-time evening shift to support a long-term care home. You will administer medications, perform assessments and participate in multidisciplinary meetings to maintain high-quality resident care.

The role reports to the Director of Care and requires current Ontario RN/RPN credentials, First Aid, BLS, and an emphasis on infection control.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
• Current First Aid and BLS certificates.
• Knowledge of nursing and health care practices, including infection control.
• Strong human relations skills; ability to work with seniors independently and in teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident care following established nursing standards, physician orders, and policies; observe and record vital signs and symptoms.
• Assess residents, develop and adjust care plans; monitor health and refer to physicians as needed.
• Organize and supervise unit care activities, including restorative and palliative care as required.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate work of nursing staff; orient/train new personnel and participate in in-service education.
