Job summary

The Barrington Hotel in Halifax, NS is seeking a full-time Kitchen Steward to support our TEMPO Food+Drink team. This role is evenings and weekends, focusing on keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with safety and hygiene standards.

You will operate dishwashers, wash and polish glassware, stock supplies, and assist with general kitchen upkeep in a fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Sous Chef, you should bring prior dishwasher experience, strong attention to detail, and the

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a dishwasher role or similar environment an asset.
• Strong attention to detail.
• The ability to take direction and remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment.
• Organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.
• Able to spend 100% of the time standing.
• The ability to handle heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operating dishwashers efficiently.
• Washing glassware and flatware.
• Polishing all glassware and flatware.
• Cleaning and sanitizing dishwasher mats, dish carts and dish racks.
• Responsible for receiving, stocking and organizing food and supply orders.
• Safely handling and storing cleaning products.
• General dish area maintenance which includes sweeping, mopping, organization and removal of garbage and compost.
• Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
