Job summary

AdaptAbilities provides respite support in Edmonton for individuals with disabilities. This permanent part-time role supports an adult female in the Southwest Edmonton community (Leger, near Terwillegar), with shifts Saturdays and Sundays 6:00 PM–10:00 PM, in-home.

The Community Specialist II focuses on complex needs, safety, and meaningful community engagement. Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or related post-secondary cert, experience with complex behaviors, and relevant

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma or related post-secondary program.
  • Hands-on experience working with individuals with complex behaviors.
  • Alignment with AdaptAbilities core values.
  • Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check required.
  • First Aid CPR Level C and AED required on hire.
  • Clean Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol, and Medication Administration certifications required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and purposeful support with individuals exhibiting behaviors that limit community access.
  • Implement person-centered and behavior plans to support participants.
  • Facilitate inclusion for individuals with complex situations.
  • Deliver and adapt programs to promote growth, success, and belonging.
  • Foster relationships promoting dignity and personal identities.
  • Encourage participants to advocate for themselves and pursue goals.
  • Maintain timely, professional documents per AdaptAbilities policies.
  • Perform other job-related activities as required.
