Job summary

AdaptAbilities invites applications for a Community Specialist (In-Home) in the West Edmonton area near the Hamptons. This permanent full-time role requires a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle; expect a varied schedule with early and late shifts and a total of 45 hours per week.

You will provide direct care, build relationships, empower participants and maintain documentation while adhering to emergency procedures and AdaptAbilities policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; little or no work experience.
• Align with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values.
• Clear police information check and intervention record check required.
• CPR Level C and AED certification required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
• Non-violent crisis intervention and abuse prevention are assets.
• Boundary and de-escalation skills are assets.

What You Offer:

The Position:

This is a permanent full-time position within our In-Home Program, supporting an adult participant in West Edmonton near the Hamptons area of the city. The position requires you to have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle as the work schedule varies. For the first two weeks of the month you will be scheduled to work Tuesdays toSaturdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.Last two weeks of the month you will be scheduled to work Tuesdays to Saturdays from Noon to 8:00 PM.

This is a 45hr/week position. (*NOTE*: you will work some Mondays instead of Tuesdays due to family's work schedule.)

The Community Specialist (CS) will be reporting to the assigned Program Manager. As a Community Specialists (CS) you would be an ally and ambassador, you will work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring and community-enriched life for the individuals/families who hire us. Thoughtful program planning and implementation supports participants to connect with their communities - establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. The conscientious CS will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with diverse abilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Qualifications

1. Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and little or no work-related experience.

4. Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
5. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for use during work hours
6. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset
7. Strong strategies around boundaries and de-escalation are an asset

Compensation $20.39 to $21.42/ hour depending on experience and education
