Job summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area is seeking an Evaluation Specialist to manage evaluation tools and data to demonstrate and improve the impact of mentoring programs. The role focuses on data collection, analysis, and reporting to support program delivery and stakeholder communications.

You will develop surveys, dashboards, and KPI reporting, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support the longitudinal study with University partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in evaluation design and methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics, social sciences, applied research, or a comparable discipline with a strong focus on evaluation
• 3-5 years’ experience designing mixed-method evaluations, collecting and protecting confidential client data, conducting descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics
• Developing KPIs and performance scorecards; managing various databases
• Strong understanding of Program Logic Model development and implementation
• Clear understanding of survey development and design
• Strong relationship building skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Advanced MS Office and Power BI skills; knowledge of MS Dynamics CRM and Click Dimensions is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Maintain data quality across CRM, Power BI, surveys and data sources.
• Develop and improve surveys, forms, tracking tools and data collection processes.
• Coordinate external research, evaluation, and partnership projects with community and academic partners.
• Collaborate with service delivery, operations, fund development, and communications teams to coordinate data collection and data pulls for evaluation and reporting.
• Support the University of Calgary Principal Investigator and longitudinal study, including recruitment, tracking, data collection, and study documentation.
• Conduct descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics to support program monitoring and planning.
• Develop knowledge translation pieces including infographics and reports to disseminate findings.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and KPI reporting tools.
• Design and implement mixed-method evaluations (formative, process, and outcome/impact).
• Provide evaluative data for donor applications and reports.
• Provide monthly data reports and insights to leadership for data-informed decision-making.
• Develop strong working relationships across the organization to promote engagement in evaluation.
• Provide project-based evaluation support to a Youth Safety Network collaborative

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain data quality, consistency, documentation, definitions, and reporting processes across CRM, Power BI, surveys, and other organizational data sources.
• Develop, maintain, and improve surveys, forms, tracking tools, and other data collection processes to support accurate and efficient evaluation and reporting.
• Coordinate and support external research, evaluation, and partnership projects, including collaboration with community and academic partners.
• Collaborate with service delivery, operations, fund development, and communications teams to coordinate data collection and data pulls for evaluation, program development, reporting, and storytelling.
• Support the University of Calgary Principal Investigator and research team on the BBBS longitudinal study, including participant recruitment and tracking, internal coordination, data collection processes, and study documentation.
• Conduct meaningful descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics to support program monitoring and business planning. This includes utilizing a mix of quantitative and qualitative data.
• Develop knowledge translation pieces including infographics and reports to synthesize and disseminate evaluation findings.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and KPI reporting tools to monitor program performance, outcomes, trends, and progress toward organizational goals.
• Design and implement mixed-method evaluations, including formative, process, and outcome/impact evaluations, based on program needs and maturity.
• Provide evaluative data and analysis to support donor applications and reports.
• Provide monthly data reports and insights to leadership teams to support data-informed decision-making and strengthen organizational data capacity.
• Develop strong working relationships with teams across the organization. Involve them in the evaluation process to promote understanding, engagement, and buy-in.
• Provide project-based evaluation support to a Youth Safety Network collaborative

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in evaluation design and methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics, social sciences, applied research, or a comparable discipline with a strong focus on evaluation
• 3-5 years’ experience in:

• Strong proficiency in MS Office and Power BI, with advanced Excel skills
• Knowledge and experience of using MS Dynamics CRM and Click Dimensions considered an asset
• Evidence of a cleared security clearance and vulnerable sector search
