Job summary

Sangam Catering Ltd. (DBA: Sangam Social Indian Kitchen & Bar) in Sherwood Park, Alberta, is hiring two Ethnic Cooks for our location. This permanent full-time position starts as soon as possible with a 32-hour work week at an hourly rate of $37.50.

As an Ethnic Cook, you will prepare and cook ethnic meals per the menu, maintain cleanliness, train staff, manage inventories, and supervise kitchen operations. English language required; 2–3 years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Prepare and cook ethnic meals or individual dishes as per menu.
• Maintain high standard of cleanliness and order in the kitchen.
• Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of foods.
• Monitor and manage cooking tools and ingredients.
• Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers and oversee kitchen operations.
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
• May set up and oversee buffets.
• Responsible for grilling, steaming and boiling meats, vegetables, fish and poultry.
• Assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements and costs.

Experience: 2 to 3 years

Cook (NOC 63200) will have to perform all of these duties:

• Prepare and cook ethnic meals or individual dishes and foods as per menu
• Ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and order.
• Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of foods.
• Monitor and manage cooking tools and ingredients.
• Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers and oversee kitchen operations.
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
• May set up and oversee buffets
• Responsible for grilling, steaming and boiling cutting meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
• Assist in planning menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies
• Cooks may specialize in preparing and cooking ethnic cuisine or special dishes.

Additional Skills

• Able to withstand long hours of standing, bending, and moving around
• Experience in using different cooking tools, equipment, and utensils
• Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures
• Understanding of food preparation techniques
• Have knowledge about kitchen safety
