Job summary

VPAC Construction Group is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our construction team in Vancouver. The successful candidate will develop scopes, schedules, and budgets for new projects, working with trades, clients, and internal teams from site visits to proposal presentations.

You will establish detailed scopes of work, develop project budgets, create takeoffs, and manage RFQs with trades while coordinating site visits and meetings as required.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of progressive construction estimating experience.
• Experience with GC tenant improvements, multi-family, commercial construction preferred.
• Proficiency with estimating takeoffs and pricing processes.

VPAC Construction Group is a general contractor serving the multi-family residential, commercial tenant, and retirement group markets. We set ourselves apart through our company culture and our strong relationships with trades and clients. We are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic Construction team.

The successful candidate will develop detailed scopes, schedules, and budgets for new projects, working closely with trades, clients, and internal teams from first site visit through proposal presentation.

You are:

• A detail-oriented, analytical construction professional with strong commercial awareness and sound judgment.
• Highly organized, with a proven ability to manage multiple estimates and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships with trades, clients, consultants, and colleagues across departments.

You will:

• Establish detailed written scopes of work in accordance with VPAC’s Standard Procedure for Estimates.
• Develop project budgets based on the scope of work, reviewing each project to ensure all client requirements are met.
• Create detailed takeoffs for all projects.
• Prepare preliminary schedules for startup, construction, and project closeout for inclusion in client proposals.
• Send RFQs to trades during the estimating phase, and act as the main liaison in receiving quotes and the information needed for tenders.
• Obtain all necessary quotations for project proposals. Maintain and update the Master Trades List.
• Attend site visits to establish scope, and coordinate site walkthroughs for trades.
• Attend project coordination and owner, contractor, architect, and engineer meetings as required.
• Provide accurate documentation to Admin to support budget presentation preparation.
• Set up and maintain physical and digital job files throughout the estimate phase.
• Work with acquisitions team members to support their deals.
• Take on additional assignments and responsibilities as needed.

You have

• 4-6+ years of progressive construction estimating experience, preferably with a GC within tenant improvements, multi-family, commercial construction, or related environments.
• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, complete estimates under tight deadlines while managing multiple bids at once.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and trade scopes of work.
• Proven experience with quantity takeoffs, bid leveling, and subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, or similar), Procore, and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel.
• Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and construction site safety practices.
