LAURIN is seeking an IT Specialist to lead technology assets, security, and AI-driven initiatives across offices and construction sites in Canada. You’ll manage IT systems, coordinate with vendors, and implement AI-enabled workflows to boost efficiency and collaboration.

The role emphasizes field and office support, reliability, and continuous improvement, with a focus on privacy, security, and scalable tech solutions across districts.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary IT, CS, IS or related field.
• Minimum five years IT, systems administration, or related experience.
• Experience managing full lifecycle of technology assets and user support.
• Experience with ERP/HRIS and cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure).
• Familiar with Autodesk suite and safety management apps.
• ITIL Foundation and relevant certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lifecycle, security, performance, and inventory of all technology assets across offices and sites.
• Procure, configure, deploy, maintain, upgrade, and decommission IT equipment and systems.
• Manage IT helpdesk and end-user support including ticket tracking and resolution.
• Coordinate with third-party IT service providers and vendors on contracts and SLAs.
• Support IT contracts, licensing, and purchasing with Finance.
• Ensure IT standards, security practices, and policies across all sites.
• Assist with setup of IT services for new jobsites and connectivity.
• Coordinate system integrations and technology projects with minimal disruption.
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and emerging tech.
• Develop and implement AI-driven workflows and tools.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement practical AI solutions.
• Provide training on technology, software, and AI usage.
• Develop IT policies including AI guidelines and data protection.

Your Impact at LAURIN

As the IT Specialist, you will help shape how Laurin uses technology to work smarter, more securely, and more efficiently. From maintaining reliable technology across our offices and construction sites to developing AI‑driven solutions and automated processes, you will help strengthen our technology environment and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the lifecycle, security, and performance, and inventory of all technology assets, including computers, laptops, mobile devices, tablets, servers, network equipment, and licensed software.
• Procure, configure, deploy, maintain, upgrade, and decommission IT equipment and systems for employees, new hires, departures, offices, and projects.
• Manage the IT helpdesk and end‑user support function, including ticket tracking, troubleshooting, prioritization, resolution
• Serve as the primary internal contact for third‑party IT service providers and technology vendors, coordinating day‑to‑day support, escalations, project work, contracts, service agreements, licensing and purchasing agreements.
• Work closely with the Director of Finance to support the negotiation and management of IT contracts, service agreements, licensing, and purchasing arrangements.
• Ensure consistent IT standards, configurations, security practices, and technology policies across all offices and jobsites, with a focus on system reliability, data security, and responsible technology use.
• Support setup and operation of IT services for new construction jobsites, including connectivity, hardware deployment, and coordination of services in trailers.
• Coordinate system integrations and technology projects between software vendors and internal stakeholders, including planning, testing, communication, implementation, upgrades and rollouts with minimal operational disruption.
• Identify opportunities across departments to leverage AI, automation, and emerging technologies to reduce manual processes, improve productivity, and enhance organizational efficiency.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend AI tools and technologies, considering business requirements, security, privacy, reliability, and practical application.
• Develop and implement AI‑driven workflows, automated processes, and custom digital tools that support business operations, improve access to information, and streamline organizational processes.
• Collaborate with business and operational stakeholders to identify and implement practical AI solutions, ensuring appropriate human oversight and alignment with business needs.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on technology, software applications, systems, and the effective and responsible use of AI.
• Develop, document, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices, including AI guidelines and best practices that address privacy, security, accuracy, data protection, and other potential risks.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of IT infrastructure, hardware, networks, cloud‑based systems, cybersecurity fundamentals, and data security.
• Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of technology assets, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, inventory tracking, replacements, and user support.
• Experience managing and supporting business systems, including ERP and accounting platforms, HRIS solutions, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure and resolving software integration issues.
• Proficiency with construction‑industry software, including Autodesk suite (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Revit, Navisworks, Building Connected), and safety management applications.
• Demonstrated interest and proficiency in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, and modern digital tools, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve organization efficiency through technology.
• Experience developing, implementing, or supporting AI‑driven solutions and automated workflows, including the ability to evaluate AI tools and translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
• Ability to support both office‑based and field‑based users across multiple districts and construction sites, including construction jobsites with unique connectivity requirements and international project assignments.
• Experience managing IT helpdesk operations, coordinating with third‑party IT service providers, and managing technology vendors, including contract negotiation and service performance
• Strong project coordination skills, including system rollouts, upgrades, integrations, and implementation of new technology and AI solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  

Education & Professional Credentials

• Post‑secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• A minimum of five years of proven education and practical experience in IT, systems administration, or a related field.
• ITIL Foundation considered an asset.
• Microsoft and Autodesk Certifications considered an asset.

At LAURIN, many of our projects require specific employment and security conditions. To be considered, candidates must:

• Be eligible to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance (Secret clearance is considered an asset).
• Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of authorization to work in Canada (e.g., valid work permit or Social Insurance Number). All offers of employment are conditional upon obtaining the required security clearance.

Estimated Compensation

The salary range for this role is $90,000 — $130,000 based on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed in your personalized offer.
