Position Summary:

We are currently recruiting an Estimator to join our team in Calgary, AB at our Calgary 8 facility. The Estimator is responsible for accurately calculating the total costs associated with manufacturing detail parts and assemblies. Estimates are based on company-defined standards, historical data, and the estimator’s experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ability to analyze drawings to determine the most efficient and economical way to manufacture a detailed part or assembly.
  2. Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  3. Keep abreast of best ways to enhance assembly and manufacturing strategies and participate in improvement projects.
  4. Consult with personnel in other departments or lead hands to discuss and formulate estimates and problem-solve manufacturing process questions.
  5. Participate actively in production support by coordinating problem-solving with other support departments.
  6. Create and organize documentation related to the sub-contracting of work.
  7. Establish and maintain relationships with current and new suppliers, obtain quotes for services and raw material to support the generation of cost estimates.
  8. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  9. Propose and implement cost-related innovative solutions that will enhance and streamline business processes, optimize costs, improve customer satisfaction, and improve relationships with suppliers and internal partners.
  10. Maintain close working relationship with Engineering with respect to but not limited to: creation of solid models, preliminary and critical design reviews, shop queries.
  11. Develop and maintain manufacturing product specifications and work orders IAW company, supplier, and AS9100 requirements.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Aviation industry; preference will be given to candidates who have experience in a Methods Planner, or similar role.
  2. Experience with CNC equipment, programming, and software (Mastercam, AutoCAD, and CATIA).
  3. Experience with all processes related to the manufacturing of Aircraft parts, including but not limited to: machining, sheet metal, welding, composites, chemical processes, assembly, and overhaul.
  4. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and related costs, for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  5. Knowledge of quality system standards (including ISO9001:2000+AS9100B).
