Job summary

Halton Healthcare in Milton, Ontario is seeking an experienced nurse for the MD Emergency department. The role supports patient care, coordinates with the interdisciplinary team, and ensures safe, high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced ED environment.

The position requires a Practical Nursing Diploma, Certificate of Competence with the Ontario College of Nurses, and BLS certification, with rotating 12-hour shifts across days/nights. Part-time 0.50 FTE availability is needed.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
• Minimum 1 year Emergency Department experience.
• Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
• Practical Nursing Diploma required.
• Medication Administration Course completed with IV antibiotics, injections experience recommended.
• Physical Assessment Course required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care per scope of practice.
• Accountable for patient outcomes and patient advocacy.
• Identify and prioritize physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.
• Provide compassionate care in a diverse cultural environment.
• Collaborate with health care team to meet standards of care and plan of care.
• Contribute to discharge planning and community continuity of care.
• Monitor length of stay and ER LOS targets; support risk management.
• Educate staff, patients and relatives; maintain infection control practices.
