Job summary

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton provides nursing care in the Emergency Department, focusing on less complex cases with predictable outcomes and collaborating closely with RNs to ensure safe, effective care.

This in-person, full-time role requires current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, a Practical Nursing Diploma or Certificate with IV medication administration, and BCLS/HCP certification. ED experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
• Practical Nursing Diploma or Certificate with IV medication administration is required.
• Current BCLS/HCP certification required.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients/families and health-care team.
• Ability to set priorities and organize work in response to client needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in ED to promote health and assess care needs.
• Collaborate with RN to ensure safe, effective care.
• Assist with patient transfers and lifts as needed.
• Utilize patient information systems and maintain documentation.
