Job summary

Heritage Park, Canada's largest living history museum, invites applications for a seasonal Teamster Assistant to support horse care and safe team handling while enhancing guest experiences. You will work under a Teamster, learning driving techniques and contributing to engaging demonstrations for visitors.

The role requires secondary education or equivalent, prior horse experience, and a team-oriented mindset. Schedule varies up to 40 hours weekly with potential outdoor duties and training.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of secondary education is required.
  • Previous experience riding, caring for, and/or working directly with horses is required.
  • Knowledge of proper horse care and health procedures is required.
  • Willingness to develop skills as a teamster if deemed suitable.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with feeding, care and handling of all assigned horses and animals.
  • Observe for signs of sickness, disease, or injury and assist with treatment as required.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of equipment, harnesses, buildings and pastures.
  • Assist with catching, harnessing and hooking up teams, ensuring proper handling of equipment.
  • Drive or ride with the Teamster on a daily basis to build competency and guest engagement.
