Job summary

Heritage Park Historical Village is seeking a Teamster Assistant to support horse care, driving teams, and guest experiences in a busy park setting. You will learn safe handling, participate in demonstrations, and help maintain facilities while delivering friendly service to visitors.

Requirements include high school completion, horse experience, and the ability to work flexible hours. Police checks may be required for applicants 18+. Training is provided on safety and procedures.

Qualifications

• Secondary education required; agriculture-related post-secondary education is an asset.
• Experience riding, caring for, and/or working with horses is required.
• Knowledge of proper care and health procedures for horses is required.
• Ability to detect illness and behavioural changes in horses.
• Must be able to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physical labour.
• Applicants over 18 must complete a Police Information Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with feeding, care, cleaning, grooming and exercising horses and animals.
• Observe signs of illness or injury and assist with treatment as required.
• Maintain and repair equipment, harnesses, machinery, buildings, fences, pens, corrals and pastures.
• Assist with catching, harnessing and hooking up teams following procedures.
• Drive or ride with the Teamster to build driving competency for visitors’ experience.
• Ensure barns, stalls and paddocks are clean and tidy.
• Provide friendly, guest-focused service and answer questions.
• Assist in farming operations if required.
• Perform other duties as required.
