Job summary

Town of Whitby is seeking a Working Foreperson, General Parks Maintenance, to lead field crews in maintaining parkland and municipally owned properties. You will coordinate staff, scheduling, safety, and reporting to ensure high-quality services for our community.

The role requires a self-motivated, solutions-driven leader who communicates clearly and collaborates across teams. You may participate in after-hours on-call rotations, including winter operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain parkland and other municipally owned properties, including playgrounds and park amenities.
• Manage inventory control and provide guidance to front line staff with training and performance monitoring.
• Plan and schedule work; ensure safety and quality across General Parks Maintenance programs.
• Prepare and complete required reports and paperwork.
• Inspect work quality and ensure staff operate safely per SOPs and work instructions.
• Provide feedback to staff and assist in resolving performance issues.
• Support the Supervisor in other duties and participate in after-hours on-call rotation.

• the duties involved in the maintenance of all parkland and other municipally owned properties, which includes, playgrounds, field houses, park amenities, Parks garbage collection program, landscape construction, special events, etc;
• inventory control;
• provide guidance and direction to front line staff, including training and performance monitoring;
• scheduling and planning work;
• inspection and monitoring of all General Parks Maintenance programs, including safety compliance, customer service delivery as well as responding to vehicle and equipment issues;
• preparation and completion of all required reports and paperwork;
• inspects the quality of work and ensures all staff are operating safely as per established Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions;
• provides feedback to staff on job performance;
• supports Supervisor in resolving any staff performance issues; and
• other duties as may be assigned.

The incumbent will participate in the Working Foreperson After Hours On-Call rotation including winter snow and ice control operations.
