Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, PM, or related field.
  • Proven experience managing environmental projects, preferably in a consulting environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to track multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail in technical/regulatory documents.
  • Familiarity with Alberta/Western Canadian environmental regulations.
  • Proficient in project management software and MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental projects from inception to completion within scope, on time, and on budget.
  • Implement and maintain systems for tracking progress, milestones, and deliverables for stakeholders.
  • Review environmental reports, permits, and regulatory submissions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as primary client contact, providing updates and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with field staff, subcontractors, and technical experts for smooth execution.
  • Maintain organized project files and QA/QC documentation.
  • Identify risks and schedule pressures; propose mitigation strategies.

Position Description

Compass Geomatics is seeking a highly organized and experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing environmental projects from inception to completion. A key focus of this position will be tracking jobs, managing workflows, and reviewing submissions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. We are a client-focused team committed to delivering practical, cost-effective, and compliant environmental solutions, and we bring a sense of urgency to our clients' needs — ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a variety of environmental projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Implement and maintain robust systems for tracking project progress, milestones, and deliverables, keeping all stakeholders informed of job status.
  • Review environmental reports, permits, and other regulatory submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients — addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with field staff, subcontractors, and technical experts to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Maintain organized project files, databases, and documentation to support QA/QC and auditability.
  • Identify project risks, scope changes, and schedule pressures early; recommend practical mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing environmental projects, preferably within a consulting environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to track multiple jobs and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to detail, specifically in reviewing technical documents and regulatory submissions.
  • Familiarity with Alberta and Western Canadian environmental regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in project management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
