Job summary

Fraser Valley Regional District is seeking an Environmental Policy Analyst to advance regional solid waste planning and management. The successful candidate will develop and coordinate policy directions, lead the update and implementation of the solid waste plan, and monitor legislation and research affecting the region.

You will communicate with staff, consultants, and the public, prepare technical and administrative reports, and present findings to the Regional Board.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Environmental Sciences or related field, experience/substitution possible.
• Five or more years in local government service delivery and knowledge of regional district legislation is preferred.
• Experience in project management, research, feasibility studies, and risk assessments.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to liaise with stakeholders and the public.

Responsibilities

• Focus on advancing solid waste planning and management for the FVRD.
• Develop, coordinate and lead projects and policy directions related to solid waste management.
• Update and implement the solid waste management plan; monitor legislation and policy developments.
• Present to the Regional Board and other groups; facilitate discussions among stakeholders, staff, and the public.
