Job description

Dryden Fibre Canada is currently seeking an individual to join the Dryden Team. The City of Dryden is located on the North shoreline of the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes along the Trans-Canada Highway. It is located midway between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is surrounded by wilderness, lakes, and landscapes.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, your role will be to complete the assigned compliance reporting within the designated timelines to maintain site compliance. In addition, the incumbent assists the environmental team and operating groups to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of environmental performance through troubleshooting, problem solving, and innovation while promoting excellence in safety and environmental performance.

More specifically, you will:

Develop and implement monitoring systems as appropriate. Work with and assist operations with process optimization as it relates to environmental impacts and efficient resource utilization.

Function as a resource to operations for the effective troubleshooting of environmental issues - root cause analysis and risk assessment methodology.

Ensure government reporting requirements are met.

Evaluate the current system performance and incorporate innovations or new technologies to enhance the mill’s environmental management system.

Provide input in the development of environmental operating and capital budgets and prepare cost justifications for new environmental projects/process changes.

Participate in Environmental on-call rotation coverage.

Your Profile:

You hold a degree/diploma in an environmental or related discipline or have 1-3 years demonstrated experience working in a pulp mill.

Experience with project management and managing external contractors or consultants.

Experience consulting with regulatory agencies and stakeholder groups

Experience with industrial wastewater treatment and waste management systems

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team environment.

Proven analytical and critical thinking skills.

The ability to co-ordinate environmental/regulatory activities.

A safety-oriented mindset with the desire to enforce and follow mill safety and environmental policies and procedures.

Strong oral and written communication abilities, including technical writing, data management and analysis, budget preparation and presentations.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 and 14001 Quality and Environmental Management Systems and with Federal and Provincial legislation/regulations
