Job summary

Hard Rock Ottawa Hotel & Casino is currently seeking a part-time permanent Production/Stage Technician to support the entertainment department under supervision. Responsibilities include set up and tear down of events, assembling trusses, lighting, sound and scenery components, and ensuring safe, high-quality performances.

The role requires a High School Diploma or trade certificate, at least 3 years of event/concert production experience, and valid licenses.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of event/concert production experience required.
• Must obtain and maintain all licenses/certifications per Federal, Provincial, and Gaming Commission.
• Flexible shifts including holidays and weekends.
• Strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to choose Hard Rock Ottawa for gaming entertainment and mentors team members to provide superior guest service.
• Follow Production policies and procedures related to the entertainment department for efficient operations.
• Assist in implementing event operating plans for Hard Rock Live.
• Assemble and disassemble trusses for lighting shows, soft goods, scenery, drops, curtains, etc.
• Assemble sets and stages, including related light and sound components.
• Load in before shows and load out after shows and performances.
• Repair and maintain lighting, sound, and fly systems to avoid delays or cancellations.

Education

High School Diploma or trade school certificate

Must be twenty-one (19) years of age

Overview

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the incumbent assists in the operational functions of the Hard Rock Entertainment Department including set up and tear down of events property wide, performs fabrication, set-up, assembly, and disassembly of all equipment, scenery, wardrobes, instruments and tools necessary for the preparation of professional shows and performances. Assist in day-to-day operations of the department to ensure it functions properly.

Responsibilities

• Creates an atmosphere that induces guests to make Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa their choice for gaming entertainment; responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members to provide superior guest service.
• Follow Production policies and procedures related to the entertainment department to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Assist in implementing event operating plans for Hard Rock Live.
• Assemble and disassemble trusses for lighting shows, soft goods, scenery, drops, curtains, etc.
• Assemble sets and stages, including related light and sound components.
• Load in prior to shows and performances and loads out following shows and performances equipment, instruments, wardrobe, tools, etc.
• Repair and maintain lighting, sound, and fly systems, drops, soft goods, stage and stage floor, musical instruments, etc. to avoid delay or cancellation of performances due to malfunctioning equipment.
• Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate managers of concerns and observations.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or trade school certificate and a minimum of three (3) years of event/ concert production experience performing similar duties required or a combination of education and experience.
• Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, Provincial, and Gaming Commission.
• Prior experience opening new properties/outlets preferred.
• Must be twenty-one (19) years of age.
• Must be able to work on holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts.
• Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
• Minimum of 3 (three) years of work experience in event/concert production.
• Ability to read and understand all Hard Rock policies and procedures.
• Pertinent federal, provincial, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk distances.
• The employee must frequently lift/push/pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a highly regulated and controlled environment, but there will be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor to complete job functions as outlined or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
