Job summary

Newfoundland Power Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technologist (Temporary 1 Year) in St. John's to join our Regional Engineering team.

You will design and manage overhead and underground line construction projects and provide technical leadership to construction crews and contractors. You will interact with customers, councils and regulatory bodies, prepare estimates and material lists, and develop engineering reports to identify system upgrades that improve operability.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma required.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills are essential.
  • Ability to execute technical tasks with attention to detail; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

As a valued member of our Regional Engineering team in our Distribution Services Group at our St. John's location, you will be responsible for:

  • designing and managing overhead and underground line construction projects;
  • providing technical leadership to construction crews and contractors;
  • interacting with customers, councils and other regulatory bodies;
  • preparing estimates and material lists for job preparation;
  • preparing engineering reports to identify, evaluate, and make recommendations for system upgrades to improve the operability of the power system;
  • assisting with the design and execution of other distribution engineering projects as required.
  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Ability to execute technical tasks with particular attention to detail.
  • Being a highly motivated team player.
  • Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD is required

There is a residency requirement for this position, whereby your primary residence must be within 40 km of Duffy Place in St. John's.
