Job summary

District of Saanich seeks an Engineering Technician II to join the Transportation and Development Services team. You will support operations, traffic safety, and development reviews, turning concepts into constructed infrastructure using Autodesk Civil 3D and related tools.

The role requires a two-year Civil Engineering diploma, basic field experience, and registration eligibility with ASTTBC. A valid BC driver’s licence and strong customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Three months of related experience.
• Eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC).
• Conversant with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu; valid BC Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Support transportation operations, traffic safety and development review activities.
• Investigate service requests and transportation concerns; collect and analyze traffic and collision data.
• Conduct field reviews and evaluate operational and safety issues.
• Develop and recommend transportation improvements and prepare Civil 3D designs.
• Support delivery of operational improvement programs (traffic calming, speed management, neighbourhood bikeways, street lighting).
• Review development applications and Traffic Impact Assessments; provide engineering expertise.
