Job summary

Torus Talent is seeking a Civil Engineering Technologist to join a BC-based Surrey consultancy. You will support municipal and land development projects across the Lower Mainland, focusing on civil design, drafting and field review.

Ideal candidates have AutoCAD Civil 3D experience, BC municipal/land development exposure, and strong communication with deadlines management. You will coordinate with clients, utilities and multidisciplinary teams and assist project delivery from concept to closeout.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering Technologist or related civil engineering technology background.
• Experience in municipal engineering and/or land development in BC.
• Hands-on AutoCAD Civil 3D experience with engineering drawings.
• Experience with sewer, watermain, roads, grading and stormwater design.
• Knowledge of civil construction, project execution, design requirements and specifications.
• Strong communication, organization and teamwork; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Research, obtain, analyze and interpret infrastructure records.
• Prepare existing infrastructure base plans and civil design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Support civil engineering design, analysis and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Coordinate with clients, municipalities, contractors and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with utilities such as BC Hydro, Telus and FortisBC.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams including architects, electrical engineers and geotechnical engineers.
• Support civil infrastructure scopes including sewer, watermain, roads, grading and stormwater management.
• Conduct construction field reviews and prepare field-review documentation.

Job description

A respected BC-based civil engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineering Technologist to join its growing Surrey team. The successful candidate will support municipal and land development projects throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, with a focus on civil design, drafting, project engineering support and field review.

This opportunity is well suited to a collaborative and motivated technologist who can take initial direction and progress toward working independently while continuing to develop their technical and project-delivery skills.

Further Responsibilities Include:

• Research, obtain, analyze and interpret existing infrastructure record information.
• Prepare existing infrastructure base plans and civil engineering design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Support civil engineering design, analysis and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Research applicable specifications and standards.
• Assist Project Engineers with project-management and delivery activities.
• Coordinate and communicate with clients, owners, municipalities, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Coordinate with third-party utilities including BC Hydro, Telus and FortisBC.
• Work with architects, electrical engineers, geotechnical engineers, traffic engineers, environmental consultants and other disciplines.
• Support civil infrastructure scopes involving sewer, watermain, roads, grading and stormwater management.
• Conduct construction field reviews, field investigations and reconnaissance as required, and prepare field-review documentation.

Ideal Candidate Requirements':

• Civil Engineering Technologist or related civil engineering technology background.
• Relevant experience in municipal engineering and/or land development within the local BC market.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and preparation of engineering drawings.
• Experience with sewer, watermain, roads, grading and stormwater-management design.
• Knowledge of civil construction, project execution, design requirements and specifications.
• Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence.

Assets

• Familiarity with Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) specifications.
• Experience completing construction field reviews for quality and conformance with design specifications.
• Local Lower Mainland / Fraser Valley project experience.
• Experience coordinating with municipalities, contractors, utilities and multidisciplinary consultants.
