Engineering Team Lead (Underground Distribution)

We are seeking an Underground Distribution Team Lead to join our team. Reporting to the Program Manager, URD & Streetlighting, this role involves managing the underground residential distribution group, providing technical guidance, and authenticating designs. Candidates should have experience in distribution and streetlighting, with managerial experience preferred. Collaboration with safety, engineering, construction, accounting, and procurement divisions is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the URD team to ensure profitability, target new opportunities, and increase the backlog of work.
• Ensure engineering work is accurate, high quality, scheduled, and completed on time.
• Authenticate URD designs with a strong understanding of luminance, illuminance, electrical theory, and practices related to URD and streetlighting systems.
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects and work requests internally and with clients.
• Coordinate estimates and proposals.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and mentor junior staff.
• Lead by example in health and safety protocols.
• Perform inspection audits, record findings, produce reports, and implement corrective actions to ensure EH&S procedures are followed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
• 2-4 years of underground distribution engineering experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and adaptability to change.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and client focus.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for site audits and inspections.
