Job summary

ALS is seeking an Engineering Services Support technician in North Vancouver to draft layouts, create BOMs, and maintain engineering documents. You will work on architectural, mechanical and general drafting tasks, perform on-site reviews, and support ECR/ECO processes in a safety-focused environment.

The role requires a technical college diploma, 2–5 years drafting experience, excellent AutoCAD skills, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Technical college degree required.
• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Engineering Design Technology preferred.
• 2–5 years drafting or supporting engineering teams.
• Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
• Safety-conscious and able to wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• CAD drafting and drawing updates across building and equipment layouts.
• Maintain engineering documentation and standards.
• Create BOMs and update material lists.
• Review equipment specifications and calculations.
• Prepare spreadsheets with data and calculations.
• On-site equipment reviews and measurements.

At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.Location: ALS Geochemistry, North VancouverReports to : Instrumentation ManagerJob Type: Full Time, 12-month fixed-term contractAbout the PositionWorking as part of Instrumentation Maintenance and Innovations team, the Engineering Services Support technician is responsible for drafting existing and new layout, detailing building and equipment systems arrangements and creating associated lists, bills of material (BOMs), calculation, reports, and other supporting documents.The successful candidate will utilize correct methods, procedures and manuals while adhering to safe practices in full compliance with the ALS policy and procedures.Specific ResponsibilitiesCAD drafting and drawing updates;Architectural, Mechanical and general technical drafting;Maintaining engineering documentation and standards;Creating bills of materials (BOMs);Reviewing specification speeches of equipment and devices;Preparing spread sheets with calculations and data;Specifying design requirements based on data;Hands on site and equipment reviews (measurements, orientation, documentation);Surveys and documentarian of existing layouts and systems;Managing revision control;Supporting engineering change requests (ECR/ECO);Maintaining document repositories;Assisting with equipment documentation and manuals;Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned;Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesExcellent AutoCAD knowledge and skills;An aptitude for building and engineering systems;Ability to read technical manuals and schematics;Excellent technical and analytical skills required;Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal;Ability to use small hand and power tools;Experience using measuring tools for dimensions and environmental properties;Proficient in computer skills including MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook;Safety oriented;Required QualificationsTechnical college degree;Or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Engineering Design Technology;2-5 years of experience drafting or supporting engineering teams;Physical DemandsWear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves, etc., when required;Ability to stand for a full shift;Ability to use ladder;Ability to lift up to 40 pounds;Our Benefits Include:An estimated hourly pay range of $29.00 - $35.00 CAD at the time of posting.
