Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Building Technician to oversee the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems in our data centers. The role supports mission‑critical uptime and acts as a technical resource for Amazon’s data center operations.

The position requires obtaining and maintaining a Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada, and involves working with equipment such as generators, switchgear, UPS, PDU, AHU/CRAHU, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building

Job Overview

Amazon is hiring Building Technicians to support our data centers. The Building Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. Building Technician serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission‑critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Building Technician’s are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. Building Technician’s are Amazon’s front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issues affecting Amazon's availability. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch‑gears, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, CRAHUs, CRAC's, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.

This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Experience in data center engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in relevant work
• Can bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
• Can walk on job sites in uneven terrain
• Can work at heights and from ladders

Base salary range for this position: CAN, AB, Airdrie - 39.00 - 51.00 CAD hourly; CAN, AB, Calgary - 39.00 - 51.00 CAD hourly.
