Job summary

DESCRIPTION

Amazon is currently hiring Building Technicians to support our data centers. The Building Operations Technician is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The Building Technician serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Building Technician’s are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. Building Technician’s are Amazon’s front line respondents for electrical and mechanical issued affecting Amazon's availability. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, switchboards/switch‑gears, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, CRAHUs, CRAC's, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.

This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/ fiber) cabling
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in data center engineering
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in relevant work
  • Can bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
  • Can walk on job sites in uneven terrain
  • Can work at heights and from ladders

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D insurance), Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and other resources to improve health and well-being.
