Englobe in Ontario is seeking a Junior Geotechnical Engineer to support the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of geotechnical investigations for transportation, municipal, and infrastructure projects. Under supervision of senior staff, you will participate in field investigations, laboratory testing programs, data interpretation, and report preparation, with opportunities toward P.Eng.

licensure and professional growth.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil/Geotechnical or Geological Engineering.
Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
0–4 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Co-op or internship experience in geotechnical consulting or materials testing is a plus.
Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC) and CFEM.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; geotechnical software experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

Plan, conduct, and supervise geotechnical field inspections including drilling and test pit programs.
Conduct foundation investigations and basic shallow and deep foundation design under supervision.
Select material samples for geotechnical laboratory testing.
Prepare borehole logs and factual reports.
Liaise with subcontractors, clients and project managers.
Support experienced geotechnical staff as required.

The Junior Geotechnical Engineer supports the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of geotechnical investigations and engineering projects. Working under the supervision of senior staff, the successful candidate will participate in field investigations, laboratory testing programmes, data interpretation, design support, and technical report preparation for transportation, municipal, commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects.

This role provides excellent opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and progression toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensure.

Your Main Responsibilities

Plan, conduct and supervise geotechnical field inspections including drilling and test pit programs;
Conduct foundation investigations and complete basic shallow and deep foundation design under the guidance of Senior Engineers;
Select material samples for geotechnical laboratory testing;
Support other project managers within the team;
Enter and report field testing results;
Support experienced geotechnical engineering staff as required;
Prepare borehole logs and write factual reports;
Liaise with subcontractors, clients and project managers;
Attend site and office meetings;
Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety policies.

What Makes You Unique

University degree in Civil/Geotechnical or Geological Engineering;
Completion of advanced or specialized university courses in geotechnical engineering and foundation engineering (Masters’ degree an asset);
Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
Co-op or internship experience in geotechnical consulting, construction, or materials testing is considered an asset;
0-4 years of solid Geotechnical engineering experience;
Working knowledge of applicable standards and guidelines, including:
- Ontario Building Code (OBC)
- Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual (CFEM)
- CSA standards
- MTO standards and specifications (considered an asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, LPile, Slide2, Settle3, gINT, HoleBASE) is an asset;
- Valid Ontario driver's licence with access to a reliable vehicle;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
- Willingness to work in outdoor field environments and travel to project sites;
- Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for occupational health and safety.

The salary range for this position is $60,550 to $79,472 CAD base per annum, based on the responsibilities of the role, internal equity, and current market benchmarks. The final offer will be determined based on a combination of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications, their positioning within our internal compensation structure, and relevant geographic cost-of-living considerations, where applicable. This range represents a realistic and good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer for this role.

Compensation may also include a comprehensive benefits package, performance incentives, or bonus eligibility depending on role level and business unit. We aim to foster transparency, respect candidate time and ensure equitable compensation aligned with our company values.
