Job Description

As an Engineer, you will design and plan processes, tools, and equipment needed for high-quality, efficient planning, construction, repair, testing/commissioning, and delivery of ships. This role applies practical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

An Engineer works independently with general supervision and may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices. The role involves working within theoretical, practical, and/or lean engineering disciplines in a shipbuilding environment.

Responsibilities

1. Originate, under the supervision of a licensed P.Eng, deliverables in an assigned job scope area.
2. Review Detail Design information using the 3D model, 2D drawings, and Production bill of materials.
3. Review and resolve engineering defects related to the ship's design.
4. Identify risks associated within their job scope, function, or broader Engineering Discipline.
5. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within their job scope and the broader Engineering discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) or equivalent.
• Understanding of how to apply standards applicable to the role, with guidance.
• General awareness of shipyard disciplines (hull structure, ship arrangements, ship piping systems, propulsion, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, producibility, manufacturing).
• Some exposure to or interest in the marine field through work experience (e.g., co-op) or academic study.
• Ability to read blueprints, navigate within a 3D model and/or simulation of the ship.
• Develop or markup drawings; conduct technical investigations and data analysis under supervision.
• Analytical problem solving under supervision; develop presentations and reports.
