Job summary

TEEMA is seeking an Engineer – E3 for a 12-month contract in Burnaby, BC. The role focuses on design, maintenance planning, and quality management for low to medium complexity projects within budget and on time.

You will read drawings, develop preventive maintenance programs for power equipment, and coordinate with field personnel and compliance staff. A P.Eng./P.Geo. eligible professional with CAD and MS Office skills is required.

Qualifications

• A minimum four (4) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
• University graduate in applied science or engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or eligible for registration.
• Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
• Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software.
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, including supporting documentation and spare parts selection.
• Coordinate with field personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, and SMEs for maintenance planning and implementation.
• Read and interpret drawings (single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts) to assess system operation and failures.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments; make good decisions and manage conflicts.

Overview:
The E3 – Engineer is a fully qualified and accredited engineering professional who applies theoretical and practical knowledge to provide engineering design, estimating, planning, and quality management services for low to medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

What you will be doing:

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment, including supporting documentation such as maintenance procedures, maintenance instructions, record forms as well as selection of required spare parts to sustain equipment operation. All deliverables with quality, within budget, and on time.
• Must have minimum four (4)years of engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field, or equivalent.
• Experience with operation, maintenance, and remediation of failures of equipment and systems in the power utility industry, oil and gas industry, or heavy industrial environment
• Experience developing preventive maintenance programs and/or developing/performing commissioning plans for a variety of electrical and P&C assets including:
  • Diesel generators
  • Medium and low voltage equipment (oil filled and dry type transformers, power circuit breakers, disconnect switches, surge arresters, switchgear, power distribution panels, VFDs, etc.)
  • DC power supply equipment (batteries, chargers, etc.)
  • Control & monitoring related components
  • Electrical protection related components
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and/or eligible for registration as such with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
• Reading and understanding drawings (single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, etc.) and manuals to articulate how a system works and how the system can fail and what needs to be done to prevent failures either from a design or an effective maintenance standpoint
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize when given multiple competing assignments
• Good decision making and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to coordinate with engineering subject matter experts, field personnel, regulatory compliance personnel, etc. for the development and implementation of maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of Reliability Center Maintenance (RCM) is desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)is desirable but not essential

What you must have:

• A minimum four (4) years of in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
• University graduate in applied science or engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
• BC Hydro uses a Digital Sign and Seal Technology. You may be required to subscribe to a digital seal technology service offered by Notarius
• Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards
• Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

Salary/Rate Range: $63.00 -$77.00 per hour

Term: 12-month contract; most likely to extend
