Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) years of engineering experience in equipment maintenance/commissioning.
  • Experience with operation, maintenance and failure remediation in power utility/oil & gas/heavy industrial sectors.
  • Desirable: familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies and CMMS.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment.
  • Determine spare parts requirements to sustain equipment operation and reliability.
  • Analyze equipment performance problems and manage engineering risk with senior teams.
  • Ensure deliverables comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, EGBC guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to roll out maintenance routines.

Engineer Preventive Maintenance Programs
  • Pay Rate: $83.66/hour, depending on experience
  • Contract Length: 1 year
  • Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Raise is currently hiring an Engineer Preventive Maintenance Programs on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.

Description

The Engineer in this role will be responsible for developing and implementing electricity generation equipment preventive maintenance programs. Working in alignment with Asset Management and Safety initiatives, the successful candidate applies theoretical and practical engineering knowledge to deliver maintenance procedures, instructions, record forms, and spare parts selections safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

Responsibilities
  • Preventive Maintenance Program Development: Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment. Produce supporting documentation including maintenance procedures, instructions, and standard record forms.
  • Asset Support & Spare Parts Selection: Determine optimal spare parts requirements to sustain ongoing equipment operation and reliability. Support broader asset management and safety-related initiatives.
  • Technical Problem-Solving & Risk Management: Utilize initiative and judgment to analyze and resolve equipment performance problems, interpret engineering specifications, and engage with senior engineering teams to manage engineering risk.
  • Compliance & Engineering Standards: Uphold ’s engineering practices, ensuring all deliverables comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and EGBC guidelines.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with engineering subject matter experts, field operations personnel, and regulatory compliance teams to build and roll out effective maintenance routines.
Qualifications
  • Minimum four (4) years of relevant engineering experience working in the equipment maintenance and/or commissioning field.
  • Demonstrated experience with the operation, maintenance, and failure remediation of equipment and systems within the power utility, oil and gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Hands-on experience developing preventive maintenance programs or commissioning plans for electrical and Protection & Control (P&C) assets, including:
    • Diesel generators
    • Medium and low voltage equipment (oil-filled and dry type transformers, power circuit breakers, disconnect switches, surge arresters, switchgear, power distribution panels, VFDs)
    • DC power supply equipment (batteries, chargers)
    • Control, monitoring, and electrical protection components
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze technical drawings (single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts) and equipment manuals to articulate system functions, failure modes, and preventive strategies.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Technical Literacy: Familiarity with CAD systems, drawing standards, and standard industry design/analysis software.
  • Intermediate English skills (written and spoken) with exceptional ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple competing assignments effectively.
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate skills in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Education and Certifications
  • University graduate in applied science or engineering.
  • P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information

Must be located in lower mainland, and will be required in office 2 times a week (Wed and Thurs)

Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.

Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”.This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
