Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a GSME – Sr Engineer in Burnaby, BC. The role focuses on electrical/ mechanical drafting for generation station projects, requiring strong CADD skills and BC licensure eligibility.

You will draft, review, and manage 2D/3D drawings, support site layouts, and ensure adherence to CAD standards. The position emphasizes experience with hydropower-related equipment and documents, periodic calculations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or another jurisdiction and eligible for registration.
• Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
• Experience doing computer aided drafting/design (CADD) for a utility or similar industry.
• Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken.
• Experience with a digital seal technology service (Notarius) or willingness to subscribe.
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Job Title: GSME – Sr Engineer

Overview:

The E4 – Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

What you will be doing:

• Experience drafting for generation station Mechanical systems.

• All the required Experience and Role Accountabilities shall relate to Autodesk and other CADD applications drafting work experience.

• Support the creation and revision of engineering drawings associated with Mechanical engineering works for the company’s Station Mechanical System projects.

• Use a variety of computer-aided drafting, modeling and parametric design applications to depict work in two and three dimensions and manage drawings using a computerized drawing records management system.

• Use drawings for site preparations and layouts, facility construction, and electrical infrastructure design and installation including details of equipment, assemblies, and components.

• Create customized drawings for non-standard engineering and design projects.

• Perform work according to the company’s CADD standards.

• Perform some calculations.

Important notes:

• Prior to commencement on assignment, the selected candidate must have their own sole practitioner, or the use of their firm’s, Permit to Practice with EGBC.

• EGBC Registrants provided to the company through this assignment shall work under the company’s Professional Practice Management Plan, Quality Management Pillar. The Registrant shall apply their own or their firm’s Permit to Practice Number to work that is Sealed by the Registrant. Retention and preservation of all project documentation produced by the Registrant during their contract with BC Hydro will be retained by the company to satisfy EGBC Bylaws.

What you musthave:

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC

• The companyuses a Digital Sign and Seal Technology. You may be required to subscribe to a digital seal technology service offered by Notarius

• Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

• Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards

• Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software

• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

• Experience doing computer aided drafting/design (CADD) for a utility or a similar industry

• Successful completion or working towards the completion of the introductory course – the company’s Electrical System

• Expertise in hydropower turbines (Francis, Pelton, Kaplan), generators and /or governor systems is required for this position.

Salary/Rate Range: $87.00 -$105.00 per hour

Term: 12-month contract; most likely to extend
