Job summary

BBA is expanding its Jonquière office and seeking an engineer to contribute to automation, instrumentation and control projects. You’ll participate in engineering and site work, and may support digital solution mandates with deliverables across project phases.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in automated production or electrical engineering, and proficiency in English and French to work with clients in Canada and Québec. On-site at our growing Canadian team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering or electrical engineering.
• Interest or experience in automation or instrumentation, including detailed engineering.
• Willingness for short-term assignments at client offices or sites.
• English proficiency to collaborate with offices and clients in Canada and internationally.
• French proficiency to collaborate with offices/clients in Québec.

Responsibilities

• Help produce deliverables for an automation engineering project cycle.
• Prepare plans and specifications including P&IDs, layouts, I/O diagrams and cables/instruments lists.
• Draft reports, plans and construction/purchasing estimates and tender calls.
• Prepare data sheets and select instruments (flow/pressure/levels) and control valves.
• Provide technical assistance during construction (electrical and instrumentation).
• Program PLCs for DCSs and HMIs.
• Participate in equipment commissioning and performance testing at client sites.

You may also be called upon to help produce deliverables for digital solution mandates.

An Overview Of Your Mandates And Responsibilities

• Help produce various deliverables for an automation engineering project cycle
• Prepare plans and specifications as well as detailed engineering deliverables (piping and instrumentation diagrams, layout drawings, I/O loop and motor control diagrams, lists of cables and instruments, installation details)
• Draft reports, plans and specifications, construction and purchasing estimates and calls for tenders, where required
• Prepare technical data sheets and select instruments (flow, pressure, levels) and control valves
• Provide technical assistance during construction work (electrical and instrumentation)
• Program programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for distributed control systems (DCSs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs)
• Participate in equipment commissioning and performance testing at client sites

Overview Of Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in automated production engineering or electrical engineering
• Interest or relevant experience (five years or less) in automation or instrumentation, including participation in the detailed engineering of a project in the mining or energy sectors
• Available for short-term assignments at client offices or sites
• Advanced level of English to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally. The frequency of English use may range from occasional to daily, depending on ongoing projects
• Advanced level of French to collaborate effectively with BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
