Job description

DRA Global Limited is an international multi-disciplinary engineering, project delivery and operations management group, predominantly focused on the mining, minerals and metals industry.

The Group has an extensive track record spanning more than four decades across a wide range of commodities. Our teams have deep expertise in the mining, minerals and metals processing industries, as well as related non-process infrastructure such as, water, and energy solutions.

DRA covers all major mining centers with offices across Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, and the Asia-Pacific.

We are seeking an Engagement Manager, Advisory for our North Americas Region. We have offices in Montreal and Toronto and we are very flexible as to where the successful candidate would be based.

The Engagement Manager will lead and deliver multidisciplinary advisory and early-stage project development assignments, including technical due diligence, project reviews, concept studies, scoping studies, Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEAs), trade-off studies, business case assessments and project development strategy assignments. The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation in one or more of mining, geology, mineral processing or a related discipline, combined with a strong understanding of project economics, financial modelling, valuation and mining project business cases.

The role requires someone who can connect technical analysis with commercial and financial outcomes, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with clients and senior executives, and develop practical recommendations that support investment and project development decisions. The Engagement Manager will have overall responsibility for assigned engagements, ensuring they are effectively managed and delivered to the Client's satisfaction while meeting DRA's quality, schedule, budget and commercial objectives.

Main Functions
  • Lead and deliver advisory and early-stage study assignments, including technical due diligence, concept studies, scoping studies and PEAs.
  • Manage engagement scope, deliverables, schedule, budget, quality, risks and change.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and specialist consultants.
  • Manage the client relationship and act as the primary point of contact for assigned engagements.
  • Understand and challenge the technical and economic assumptions underpinning the project business case.
  • Prepare and present key findings, recommendations and study outcomes to client executives, boards, investors and other stakeholders.
  • Support development of proposals, scopes of work and new advisory opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead multidisciplinary advisory engagements from project initiation through final deliverable and close-out.
  • Ensure that the technical work is aligned with the Client's objectives, investment criteria and overall project development strategy.
  • Manage engagement scope, schedule, budget, deliverables and commercial performance.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate execution plans, work plans, schedules, responsibility matrices and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate inputs across geology, mining, mineral processing, infrastructure, environmental, permitting, cost estimating, scheduling and financial modelling.
  • Ensure that technical assumptions are integrated consistently across disciplines and reflected appropriately in the financial model and project economics.
  • Work closely with clients to evaluate alternative development scenarios and establish a technically and economically sound project business case.
  • Review key project economics including capital cost, operating cost, production profile, revenue assumptions, cash flow, NPV, IRR and major financial sensitivities.
  • Identify key technical, commercial and development risks, opportunities and potential fatal flaws.
  • Lead or support trade‑off studies, value improvement initiatives and project optimization exercises.
  • Lead client meetings, technical workshops, progress reviews and executive presentations.
  • Manage scope changes and ensure additional work is appropriately identified and commercially addressed.
  • Support the preparation and consolidation of NI 43-101 PEA reports where applicable, working with the relevant Qualified Persons and Discipline Leads.
  • Support technical due diligence and independent project reviews for mining companies, investors, lenders, private equity groups, royalty and streaming companies and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop practical recommendations and project development roadmaps identifying the work required to advance a project to its next decision gate.
  • Support proposal preparation, including development of scope, methodology, deliverables, schedule, staffing, assumptions, exclusions and fee estimates.
  • Support client development and identification of follow‑on advisory and project development opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the development of DRA's Advisory capability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Additional education or demonstrated experience in finance, mineral economics, business, valuation or financial modelling is strongly preferred.
  • Typically, 10+ years of relevant experience in mining, consulting, engineering, project development, operations, technical advisory, investment analysis or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing multidisciplinary mining studies, advisory mandates or technical due diligence assignments.
  • Strong understanding of mining project economics, financial models and the relationship between technical assumptions and project value.
  • Ability to interpret and challenge financial models, including key assumptions, sensitivities and value drivers.
