Job summary

Stantec in Calgary is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Project Delivery Energy team. You will work under supervision on small to large projects, guided by a Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer.

Experience with carbon capture, utilization and storage and owner’s engineering is an asset. The role involves coordinating meetings, managing scope, and supporting cost and schedule estimates in a dynamic energy environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or process engineering is required.
• Five+ years of relevant experience (or eight years with a technical diploma/certificate).
• Licensed Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee with APEGA preferred.
• Knowledge of project management principles and applicable codes is expected.

Responsibilities

• Understand and ensure that client expectations related to project scope are met and exceeded.
• Establish and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Develop feasibility studies, DBMs, FEED reports, EWPs/CWPs, project planning documents, and client progress reports.
• Support development of engineering services hours estimates, total project installed cost estimates and project schedules.
• Coordinate and facilitate key meetings and reviews (kick-offs, P&ID reviews, PHAs, constructability reviews, 3D model reviews, construction kick-off).
• Provide proactive project change, risk and stakeholder management support.
• Act as the single point of technical contact for the project and guide engineering disciplines.
• Ensure procurement packages are produced per project cost, schedule and quality requirements.
• Review project documentation (specifications, PFD/P&ID drawings, designs, line lists, equipment lists) for accuracy.
• Coordinate construction support activities.
• In-person collaboration with your team and clients is expected.
• Site travel of approximately 1–3 days per month.
