Job summary

Smiles Like Yours is seeking a Direct Support Professional to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in day support or residential settings. You will assist with daily activities, provide socialization opportunities, and implement individualized care plans.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety during outings, transporting individuals as needed, administering medication when required, and maintaining accurate progress reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• At least one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Must be on-time, reliable and dependable.
• Must be able to use Microsoft applications.
• Preferred candidates are CPR, TOVA, and medication administration certified.
• Virginia Driver’s License in good standing (as specified in the posting).

Responsibilities

• Implement and follow the policies and procedures of the Company.
• Observe and promote the rights and dignity of others.
• Engage in person-centered care of individuals.
• Assist individuals with entering/exiting vehicles and buildings during outings.
• Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and staff.
• Set up, execute, and break down each event and support during activities.
• Safely transport individuals to and from events using company vehicle.
• Provide personal care when necessary and perform light housekeeping.
• Document Individualized Support Plans and Progress Reports.
• Apply first aid, CPR when necessary and participate in training.
• Administer medication when required and attend scheduled meetings.
