Job summary

The North West Friendship Centre is seeking a Family Support Worker to provide in-home support to families facing challenges and to promote well-being in the community.

The role focuses on assessing family needs, developing support plans, offering practical and emotional guidance, parenting skills training, budgeting help, and coordinating with social workers, healthcare providers, and educators to access community resources.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in a Human Services or related field.
• Experience working with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of families' needs and strengths.
• Develop individualized support plans in collaboration with families, setting achievable goals.
• Provide practical assistance and emotional support, including parenting skills training and budgeting.
• Offer guidance to enhance family communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
• Advocate to access community services and resources on behalf of families.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of interactions and interventions.
• Collaborate with other professionals and agencies involved in the family's care.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills.
• Undertake duties to support organizational objectives.
