The incumbent will provide support to clients through workshop facilitation, job applications, on-site job coaching, onboarding, and retention services. This position is offered as a 1-year contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the team to identify job seekers' attributes and skills, and develop strategies to increase employability and meet client employment goals.
- Provide support to individuals in navigating program components such as computer equipment, assistive devices, and accessing community service information.
- Facilitate workshops, both one-on-one and group settings, conduct mock interviews, and provide feedback to clients and the Employment Coordinator.
- Create and update resumes, cover letters, and employment applications.
- Collect follow-up information and provide retention supports as needed.
- Support job seekers during the recruitment process, including coaching for specific job opportunities and offering in-person support during interviews.
- Perform follow-ups at specified intervals for active and closed clients, ensuring data is entered and tracked in a timely manner.
- Provide support with workplace accommodation requirements.
- Assist with developing and implementing workplace retention strategies.
- Accurately enter data, including case notes, into internal/external databases, and submit required documentation such as paystubs.
- Provide job coaching, including on-the-job support during orientation, review of training materials, safety protocols, job duties, and company policies.
- Develop detailed task analyses and provide instruction to clients to learn job duties and develop appropriate work behaviors on a one-on-one basis.
- Provide training to increase mobility options within the city.
- Liaise between placement employers, META staff, and program participants.
- Market and promote the agency through participation in job fairs, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional or business associations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of post-secondary education in social services, employment, career counseling, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience supporting persons with disabilities and/or complex barriers to employment.
- Understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal employment-related programs, services, legislation, eligibility, and guidelines.
- Familiarity with community social services networks and Ontario income support programs.
- High proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel) and strong research skills.
- Experience using databases; familiarity with CAMS is an asset.
- Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills that motivate and encourage others.
- Ability to negotiate, problem-solve, and work effectively under pressure.
- Willingness to travel to various locations for work.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, up-to-date vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Organized, resourceful, efficient, with well-developed time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Comfortable speaking in group settings and capable of organizing and facilitating workshops/training sessions.
- Current and clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Travel outside the office may be necessary.
- Ability to work from home as needed.
