Job description

The incumbent will provide support to clients through workshop facilitation, job applications, on-site job coaching, onboarding, and retention services. This position is offered as a 1-year contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborate with the team to identify job seekers' attributes and skills, and develop strategies to increase employability and meet client employment goals.
  2. Provide support to individuals in navigating program components such as computer equipment, assistive devices, and accessing community service information.
  3. Facilitate workshops, both one-on-one and group settings, conduct mock interviews, and provide feedback to clients and the Employment Coordinator.
  4. Create and update resumes, cover letters, and employment applications.
  5. Collect follow-up information and provide retention supports as needed.
  6. Support job seekers during the recruitment process, including coaching for specific job opportunities and offering in-person support during interviews.
  7. Perform follow-ups at specified intervals for active and closed clients, ensuring data is entered and tracked in a timely manner.
  8. Provide support with workplace accommodation requirements.
  9. Assist with developing and implementing workplace retention strategies.
  10. Accurately enter data, including case notes, into internal/external databases, and submit required documentation such as paystubs.
  11. Provide job coaching, including on-the-job support during orientation, review of training materials, safety protocols, job duties, and company policies.
  12. Develop detailed task analyses and provide instruction to clients to learn job duties and develop appropriate work behaviors on a one-on-one basis.
  13. Provide training to increase mobility options within the city.
  14. Liaise between placement employers, META staff, and program participants.
  15. Market and promote the agency through participation in job fairs, speaking engagements, and involvement in professional or business associations.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Completion of post-secondary education in social services, employment, career counseling, or a related discipline.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of related experience supporting persons with disabilities and/or complex barriers to employment.
  3. Understanding of federal, provincial, and municipal employment-related programs, services, legislation, eligibility, and guidelines.
  4. Familiarity with community social services networks and Ontario income support programs.
  5. High proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel) and strong research skills.
  6. Experience using databases; familiarity with CAMS is an asset.
  7. Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills that motivate and encourage others.
  8. Ability to negotiate, problem-solve, and work effectively under pressure.
  9. Willingness to travel to various locations for work.
  10. Valid Ontario driver’s license, up-to-date vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
  11. Organized, resourceful, efficient, with well-developed time management skills.
  12. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  13. Comfortable speaking in group settings and capable of organizing and facilitating workshops/training sessions.
  14. Current and clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  1. Travel outside the office may be necessary.
  2. Ability to work from home as needed.
