Job description

The Shepherd’s Guide Christian Business, Church & Ministry Directory in Canada

Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is a vibrant, non‑profit Christian organization leading a collective movement to end chronic poverty in Toronto.

Since 1896, we’ve worked to transform the lives of people living with poverty, going beyond immediate needs by offering wrap‑around support via holistic programs and services, and a pathway which enables vulnerable youth, families in need, adults experiencing poverty and vulnerable communities to move from surviving to thriving.

To make this happen, we are passionate about investing in the people we work with, and look for a diverse range of staff who are key for us to advance our mission: Christians who have a heart for neighbours in need, a desire to transform the lives of our community members, and who believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect.

If you are inspired by our vision and feel a true call to contribute to YSM’s work, we’d love to hear from you.

What We Offer:

As a staff member at YSM, some of the things you can look forward to include a values‑based and highly collaborative and engaging work environment with a high value on staff’s mental health and well‑being; meaningful, innovative and impactful work, with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children, families, and the community. Our competitive Total Rewards compensation package also includes Group RRSP matching, annual leave and paid personal days, comprehensive health and dental care coverage, an Employee and Family Assistance Program that includes counselling services by Christian professionals, and numerous other perks.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Employer Liaison for the Integrated Employment Services (IES) Program. The IES program provides employment support for job seekers by addressing each client’s unique challenges, offering tailored support and a pathway to sustainable employment. Reporting to the Workforce Engagement Supervisor, this role will develop and nurture employer relationships that are aligned with the skills and needs of a range of clients.

This position is contract part‑time position (3 days/week, 7.5 hours/day), until March 2027 and may require some evening and weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Proactively develop new employer relationships in response to the employment goals, skills, and abilities of individual participants and job start KPIs
  • Meet quantitative targets as part of YSM’s performance management process
  • Act as an intermediary between Employment Counsellors, participants, and employers throughout job trials and brokered incentive agreements, assisting with problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and execution of training plans
  • Educate employers on the barriers faced, and the unique potential of clients from YSM population focus groups, including People with Disabilities
  • Negotiate with employers on any accommodation supports required by participants
  • Develop employer personas that detail variables such as labor market needs, training requirements, and range/characteristics of available positions, and articulate employer preferences
  • Prioritize recruitment of employers offering high‑quality jobs. Conduct initial and recurring employer site inspections to ensure participants are introduced to safe, positive work environments.
  • Support training cohorts with employers in high‑demand fields
Qualifications:
  • Post‑secondary diploma/degree in marketing, business development, career development, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in employer engagement, recruitment, or workforce development.
  • Proven track record working with diverse client populations and building employer partnerships.
  • Strong communication, judgment, problem‑solving, and relationship‑building abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, CRM systems, and digital tools.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel within the GTA (Asset).
  • Knowledge of local labour markets and workforce needs (preferred).
  • Multilingual capabilities (e.g., French, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic) are an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).

Compensation: YSM will pay a starting salary $28,422.82 (prorated for part‑time, 3 days/week) for this part‑time role, combined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks.

While we appreciate all responses, only candidates under consideration will be contacted.

YSM welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.

Please note that this position is for an existing vacancy, and YSM do not use any form of artificial intelligence (AI) at any stage of the recruitment process. These stages include candidate screening and shortlisting, assessment and selection.
