Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking an Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7 ER team onsite at our hospital. You will work alongside doctors in triage, treatments, anesthesia, monitoring and critical care, delivering gold standard care while supporting distressed pet parents.

This role requires RVT credentials in the province, 1+ year experience in veterinary tech, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Credentialed as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in the province of the VEG practice.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and EMR/practice management software experience.
• Excellent communicator and ability to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients and support pet parents through testing, treatments, and discharge.
• Deliver veterinary care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments.
• Assist with IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions and related monitoring.
• Collaborate with the team to plan care and keep flow steady.
• Perform CPR and follow VEG RECOVER protocols when needed.
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement.
• Provide anesthesia for patients as required.
• Utilize advanced techniques like central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds.
