Job summary

The Lambton Kent District School Board is seeking qualified candidates for the Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster. This role requires flexibility to work in various school settings and a commitment to providing quality education. Candidates must hold an Ontario teaching certificate and possess strong communication and classroom management skills.

Qualifications

Position Open To : Internal and External Applicants

Posting Overview

The Lambton Kent District School Board, serves more than 21,000 students in 50 elementary and 12 secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent.

Prospective qualified elementary teachers that meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply.

  • must be available to start working immediately or once OCT has been processed;
  • must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days / week;
  • must be available to work 10 months during the school year;
  • must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and / or Sarnia-Lambton;
  • must be available to work on a daily occasional basis;
  • must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.

Prospective candidates currently enrolled in teachers college are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will be expected to commence employment immediately or once they become OCT qualified (for new graduates / current students).

Please note that shortlisted candidates will not be contacted until after the posting has closed on July 28, 2025.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification;
  • qualifications in French, Ojibwe or Lenape language are an asset;
  • Special Education Part 1 is an asset;
  • additional qualifications are an asset;
  • knowledge of current curriculum directions;
  • excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff;
  • demonstrate positive interaction and collaboration as part of the school team;
  • apply consistent and fair classroom management skills;
  • ability to implement positive and progressive disciplinary practices;
  • experience working with youth in a variety of settings;
  • experience working with diverse cultures including First Nation, Métis, and Inuit;
  • experience with current assessment, evaluation and reporting;
  • ability to integrate technology into curriculum.
