Job summary

The Lambton Kent District School Board is hiring for an Elementary Occasional Teacher position. Successful candidates will work on an occasional basis, and must be available for last-minute calls. Applicants are required to have their Ontario College of Teachers Certificate and are encouraged to apply regardless of teaching experience. Job description

Title: Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster

Position Open To: Internal and External Applicants

Posting Overview

The Lambton Kent District School Board, serves more than 21,000 students in 50 elementary and 12 secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent.

Prospective qualified elementary teachers that meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Must be available to start working immediately or once OCT has been processed;
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days/week;
  • Must be available to work 10 months during the school year;
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and/or Sarnia-Lambton;
  • Must be available to work on a daily occasional basis;
  • Must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.

Prospective candidates currently enrolled in teachers college are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will be expected to commence employment immediately or once they become OCT qualified (for new graduates/current students).

Please note that shortlisted candidates will not be contacted until after the posting has closed on July 28, 2025.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification;
  • Qualifications in French, Ojibwe, or Lenape language are assets;
  • Special Education Part 1 is an asset;
  • Additional qualifications are assets;
  • Knowledge of current curriculum directions;
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff;
  • Ability to demonstrate positive interaction and collaboration as part of the school team;
  • Apply consistent and fair classroom management skills;
  • Ability to implement positive and progressive disciplinary practices;
  • Experience working with youth in a variety of settings;
  • Experience working with diverse cultures including First Nation, Métis, and Inuit;
  • Experience with current assessment, evaluation, and reporting;
  • Ability to integrate technology into curriculum.
