Job description

Title: Elementary Occasional Teacher Roster

Position Open To: Internal and External Applicants

Posting Overview:

The Lambton Kent District School Board serves more than 21,000 students in 50 elementary and 12 secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent.

Prospective qualified elementary teachers that meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

  1. must be available to start working immediately or once OCT has been processed;
  2. must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days/week;
  3. must be available to work 10 months during the school year;
  4. must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and/or Sarnia-Lambton;
  5. must be available to work on a daily occasional basis;
  6. must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.

Prospective candidates currently enrolled in teachers college are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will be expected to commence employment immediately or once they become OCT qualified (for new graduates/current students).

Qualifications/Experience:

  1. Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification;
  2. qualifications in French, Ojibwe or Lenape language are an asset;
  3. Special Education Part 1 is an asset;
  4. additional qualifications are an asset;
  5. knowledge of current curriculum directions;
  6. excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff;
  7. demonstrate positive interaction and collaboration as part of the school team;
  8. apply consistent and fair classroom management skills;
  9. ability to implement positive and progressive disciplinary practices;
  10. experience working with youth in a variety of settings;
  11. experience working with diverse cultures including First Nation, Métis, and Inuit;
  12. experience with current assessment, evaluation and reporting;
  13. ability to integrate technology into curriculum.
