Role Overview
This role combines technical expertise with leadership. You will design and build embedded electronics for low-power, wireless, battery-operated systems, while scaling and mentoring a growing engineering team. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the electronics engineering team, with the goal of scaling the team to its current size.
- Own the design and development of low-power microcontroller-based boards with BLE, Li-Ion/NiMH battery systems, and solar charging.
- Drive innovation in ultra-low power design for aerospace-grade wireless IoT applications.
- Participate in schematic capture, PCB layout, testing, and validation.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as ARINC, CAN, Ethernet, and associated electronics design.
- Guide and perform component selection focusing on efficiency, performance, and scalability.
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and product teams for cross-functional development.
- Ensure high reliability, safety, and manufacturability (DFM/DFT) of hardware products.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and mentorship of new team members.
- Work with leadership on technical direction, architecture, and roadmap alignment.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics design, especially for wireless, battery-operated systems.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with BLE protocols, Li-Ion batteries, solar power management, low-power microcontrollers, and wireless sensors.
- Experience with microcontrollers/processors such as Nordic, STM32, TI-MSP430, ESP32, Silicon Labs, or similar.
- Proficiency with tools like Altium Designer and KiCad.
- Proven experience in scaling or building engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills with a leadership mindset and ability to align technology with business goals.
- Self-motivated problem-solver who thrives in a high-ownership, innovative culture.
Beneficial To Have
- Experience in highly regulated environments.
- Experience in aerospace electronics, harsh environment deployments, or mission-critical systems.
- Knowledge of RF design, antenna tuning, or EMI/EMC compliance.
- Understanding of hardware certification processes (CE, FCC, FAA, etc.).
- Experience with manufacturing and test automation tools.
