The University of Victoria is seeking a skilled electrician to perform tradesperson level electrical work on building maintenance or new installations under supervision. You will use standard tools and equipment and contribute to safe, reliable electrical systems across university facilities.

As part of a team, you will complete timekeeping, coordinate with faculty and staff, and support project readiness. A BC Red Seal qualification and a valid BC Class 5 license are required, along with safety

• Journeyperson electrical certification required.
• Red Seal BC or interprovincial required.
• Safety training and knowledge of codes and Work Safe BC regulations.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver's license required.

Maintains safe working conditions. Troubleshoots operating problems and electrical failures related to building electrical systems. Prepares for project work in the assigned areas of responsibility. Use typical tools machinery, and equipment related to the trade. Operates a light truck, Gators, or other similar vehicles.

Specialized Knowledge/Education

• Grade 12 (or equivalency)
• BC or interprovincial Red Seal electrical trades qualification.
• Safety training and knowledge of applicable codes and standards, and Work Safe BC regulations.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver's license.

Experience

• Minimum of four years' experience in the electrical trade as a journeyperson.
• Tradesman level competence with fire alarm, and electrical metering monitoring systems.
• Planning, organizing and monitoring day-to-day work activities and standards in a shop and/or plant environment.
• Familiarity with use of a computerized maintenance management work order system.
