Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the routine/preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of processing, manufacturing, and packaging equipment.

Schedule: TBD – must be available to work days and nights

Salary: $36.15 - $42.55/hour

How you will make contributions that matter:

• Carries out preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
• Troubleshoots and repairs equipment in breakdown situations
• Carries out equipment installations and modifications as required
• Repairs parts in shop
• Works effectively in a processing environment without jeopardizing food safety
• Follows company policies and safety standards
• Works with other trades groups to complete project assignments
• Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

• Trades license, late term apprentice, or similar technical background
• Proven experience with process equipment in a manufacturing setting
• Food industry or high-speed packaging experience
• Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation
• Welding experience is an asset
• Boiler, refrigeration and air handling systems experience is an asset
• Electrical experience is an asset
• PLC training and experience is an asset
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• High level of self-motivation and initiative
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Dependable with a good attendance and safety record in current position
• Available to work afternoon and night shifts, weekends and overtime as required
• Available to switch shifts at short notice to replace absent workers
