Qualifications

  • Fully ticketed Red Seal Electrician with industrial experience preferred.

Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a certified tradesperson looking to join a “best in class” maintenance team? Western Forest Products is hiring a Certified Electrician for our Chemainus Sawmill Division located on Vancouver Island, BC.

What We Offer:
  • Unionized positions with a wage rate of $51.26/hour as per the collective agreement
  • Hourly premiums of $1.00/hour for shifts outside the recognized day shift
  • Benefits and pension through the union
  • A safe work environment

Shifts: Graveyard Monday – Friday, 10:00 pm – 6:00 am

Note: Shifts may vary depending on mill requirements.

These positions are safety sensitive; all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, upgrade, and build electrical and pneumatic equipment
  • Develop and maintain electrical preventative maintenance plans
  • Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting
  • Implement and document equipment and process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures
  • Perform electrical calculations and prepare purchase specifications
  • Provide expertise in problem analysis and resolution
  • Develop positive relationships with contacts and stakeholders
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in electrical engineering
  • Interpret drawings and electrical code specifications
  • Design layouts for cable trays, electrical equipment, lighting, and single-line diagrams
  • Install conduits and electrical fittings
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Fully ticketed Red Seal Electrician (Industrial Electrician preferred)
  • Sawmill experience is an advantage
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs, ControlLogix, and industrial control systems
