Tirecraft Dorchester invites applications for a Diesel Service Technician - Apprentice. Join a Canadian-owned automotive service team in Dorchester, ON. Work with service advisors to obtain work orders and diagnose diesel systems using computerized tools.

Must have a Diesel Service Technician Apprenticeship Certificate (310T) or be enrolled in year 3–4 of the program; a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract is required. Afternoon shift 3:30 pm–11:00 pm.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship certificate required (310T) or 310J alternative.
  • Currently enrolled in year 3 or 4 of diesel tech schooling.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract; strong diagnostics ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and tests.
  • Repair diesel systems: fuel, brakes, suspension, engine, drivetrain, emissions.
  • Perform maintenance and advise customers on repairs.
  • Interact with service advisors to obtain work orders.
  • Test and adjust units to manufacturer specifications.

As a Diesel Service Technician - Apprentice you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our customer fleet of diesel vehicles, ensuring they operate at optimal performance levels.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in diagnostics, keen attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate fault.

Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of diesel systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment.

Evaluate and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specification.

Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups.

Advise customers and/or Service Advisor on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements.

Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions.

Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor or determine whether to repair or replace unit.

Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools.

Test and adjust units to specifications to proper performance.

Qualifications: Diesel Service Technician Apprenticeship Certificate in accordance with the Ministry of Colleges, Training and Universities, 310T or willing to accept 310J Simply - Currently enrolled in year 3rd or 4th year of schooling Consistently able to work independently Intermediate drivability diagnostics Valid Driver's License with a clean abstract Strong Communication Skills Problem Solving Skills to work independently and with a team Interested applicants should submit their resume this ad.
