Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Transmission & Distribution Canada team in Vancouver. You will contribute to the design of substations from 12 kV to 500 kV, supporting studies and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams on fast-paced projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and is pursuing P.Eng. designation, with 2–5 years of related substation design experience and proficiency in AutoCAD and related tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for / working toward P.Eng. designation with EGBC.
  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in transmission & distribution or substation design.
  • Experience in substation design, including layouts, grounding, and bus design; BC Hydro or utility project experience is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, IEC, CSA, OH&S.

Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate electrical substations (12 kV to 500 kV) with limited supervision.
  • Lead preparation and review of key design deliverables (one-line diagrams, layouts, grounding layouts).
  • Perform engineering calculations, grounding studies, and bus studies.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and respond to RFIs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated designs.
