Senior Manager @ Hays | Mechanical & Electrical | Construction/Engineering Buildings Sector

Our client is an electrical contractor in Etobicoke, ON, who has a strong focus on their service division, offering a wide range of electrical services to commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal sectors in Toronto and the GTA.

Their services, as highlighted on their website, include:

  • Preventive Maintenance & Reporting: This suggests a focus on long-term client relationships and proactive solutions.
  • 24/7 Emergency Support: They emphasize their quick response time (within 2 hours) for urgent service needs
  • Infrared Thermography & Fault Detection: Highlighting their advanced diagnostic capabilities.
  • Electrical Distributions Upgrades & Renovations: Demonstrating expertise in system modernization.
  • LED Lighting Retrofits: A common service for energy efficiency improvements.
  • EV Charging Solutions: A growing area of expertise, as seen in their project examples.
  • Other specialized services include electric ramp heating, cable repair, fire alarm systems, outdoor lighting, aerial bucket trucks, and pipe tracing.

For an Electrical Service Coordinator to lead this division, the client is looking for a candidate with the following key qualifications:

  • Strong Service Industry Experience: Given their 24/7 emergency support and focus on client-care, the coordinator needs to understand the fast-paced, client-centric nature of electrical service work. This includes managing urgent requests, scheduling technicians efficiently, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Estimating and Quoting Expertise: This is crucial for their service division. The coordinator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive bids for service calls, maintenance contracts, and smaller projects. This involves understanding material costs, labour rates, project scope, and potential challenges.
  • Project Coordination/Management Skills: While leading the service division, the coordinator will need to manage multiple service jobs simultaneously, ensuring timely completion, resource allocation, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Technical Electrical Knowledge: A solid understanding of electrical systems, codes, and common issues will be essential to effectively estimate, quote, and communicate with both clients and technicians. An electrical apprenticeship or relevant technical education would be highly beneficial.
  • Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: They will be the primary point of contact for service clients and will need to effectively communicate project details, pricing, and timelines. Strong negotiation skills for quoting and problem-solving abilities are also important.
  • Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail: Managing a high volume of service requests, tracking progress, and maintaining accurate records will be critical for success.
  • Computer Proficiency: Experience with relevant software for estimating, scheduling, and project management (e.g., Bluebeam for quantifying documents, as mentioned in similar job descriptions) would be an asset.

Regarding compensation, the stated range of $85,000 - $100,000 per year for an in-office role in Etobicoke, ON, is on offer for the best matching candidates.
