Job summary

Tuff Automation seeks an Automation Machine Builder to assemble, wire, and troubleshoot custom automated machinery used in manufacturing. The role includes building control panels, routing wires, and installing sensors and drives.

Some travel to customer sites for installation, startup, and ongoing support is required. Ideal candidates have a solid mechanical and electrical background, experience with industrial robotics, and a safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience wiring industrial automation equipment or control panels.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with industrial sensors, motors, drives, and control components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Past on-the-job travel and willing to travel 20-25%; domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Build industrial control panels according to electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Perform panel layout, component mounting, wire routing, and termination of electrical components.
  • Work with controls engineers and machine builders to wire custom automation equipment.
  • Install and connect sensors, motors, drives, control devices, and associated electrical components.
  • Route and secure wiring and cabling in a neat, organized, and professional manner.
  • Verify wiring accuracy and perform electrical checkout activities.
  • Troubleshoot wiring and electrical issues during machine assembly and testing.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety procedures.
  • Assist with machine installation, startup, and support activities at customer facilities as required.

Job description
