Job summary

TDR Electric in Vancouver is seeking an Electrical Foreman to lead field operations and drive project success from planning through delivery. You will mentor crews of journeypersons and apprentices, coordinate with project managers, read electrical drawings, and ensure safety and quality on site.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, accurate scheduling, and effective communication with contractors, inspectors, and clients while upholding WorkSafeBC requirements and company standards.

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification in Electrical (required).
  • 1+ years experience as a Foreman or Lead Hand on commercial or institutional projects.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in layout, conduit, distribution, and coordination with other trades.
  • Comfortable with digital tools (Procore, Fieldwire, PlanGrid, etc.).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong supervisory experience in construction projects.
  • Expertise in quality control and budgeting practices.
  • Skilled in blueprint reading and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage crews of journeypersons and apprentices to ensure productivity, safety, quality, and project objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to plan manpower requirements, monitor schedules, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, blueprints, and the BC Electrical Code to plan and execute installations accurately.
  • Plan daily and weekly work activities, allocate tasks effectively, and communicate expectations to crew members.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components as required.
  • Track project milestones, labour hours, material usage, and progress using field reporting software and site documentation.
  • Coordinate material procurement, maintain material lists, and manage inventory on site, in vehicles, and within project storage areas.
  • Ensure company tools, equipment, and project assets are properly maintained and accounted for.
  • Serve as the primary site contact for general contractors, consultants, inspectors, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality control reviews to ensure installations meet company standards, project specifications, and code requirements.
  • Lead site safety initiatives, coordinate toolbox talks and safety meetings, and ensure compliance with company policies, WorkSafeBC requirements, and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Ensure crews have appropriate PPE and report shortages or safety concerns promptly.
  • Train, mentor, coach, and evaluate apprentices and journeypersons, including completion of apprenticeship assessments and progress reviews.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and accountable work environment that reflects TDR Electric’s values and culture.
  • Support workforce planning by identifying labour requirements, skill gaps, and development opportunities within the crew.
  • Inspect projects upon completion, ensure deficiencies are addressed, and verify work areas are clean and ready for turnover.
  • Act as an ambassador for TDR Electric by promoting safety, teamwork, professionalism, continuous improvement, and client satisfaction.

What You’ll Do
